Variegated Peperomia (Peperomia obtusifolia variegata)
Variegated
Peperomia, also
called Variegated
Baby Rubber Plant,
has attractive, glossy,
succulent-like leaves
with cream-colored
variegation that creates
marbling patterns in
the green leaves. The
Royal Horticultural
Society has awarded
this plant an Award of
Garden Merit for its
unusual leaves. Small
white flowers appear
in spring. Grow in partial sun or bright indirect light, but no hot mid-day sun. Water
when the soil is dry to the touch but since the fleshy leaves hold water, water sparingly
during the winter when not actively growing. Insects and diseases are rarely
a problem with Variegated Peperomia. The National Garden Bureau has declared
Peperomia the 2022 Houseplant of the Year since it’s popular and easy-to-grow.
