Train station Ybbs a. d. Donau

In the Lower Austrian Mostviertel, the railway station Ybbs an der Donau of the municipality of the same name is located in the southwestern part of the district of Melk. The original station building serves as the backdrop to the modernly equipped railway station, which has been designed to be barrier-free and comfortable.

More than 520 parking spaces for cars and mopeds have been set up in the adjoining Park & Ride facility, and there are parking spaces for almost 130 bicycles in the Bike & Ride station on site.

Route information

The railway station Ybbs an der Donau is located along the Westbahn line. Although the station is located somewhat outside the town centre, it is easy to reach thanks to the Ybbs public transport system.

• Regional express trains in the direction of Amstetten, St. Valentin and Vienna Westbahnhof stop here.
• At the station forecourt, bus lines offer convenient connections to Wieselburg and Zwettl.
• Buses also run regularly from the station forecourt to the city centre.

Ybbs-Persenbeug power station

From the railway station in Ybbs an der Donau, it is a one-hour walk across the Ybbs and along the Danube to Austria's oldest hydroelectric power station, the Ybbs-Persenbeug Visitor Power Station. Through entertaining guided tours and interactive experience stations you get a fascinating insight into the operation of the mighty Danube power plant.

Tip: The visitor power station is located along the Danube Cycle Path. Take your bike with you on the train and cycle to the impressive excursion destination on the Danube in around 25 minutes.

Expansion

In 2014, the four-track expansion was completed on the line between Amstetten and Ybbs an der Donau, in order to be able to run the new sections without crossings in the future and to reach maximum speeds of up to 250 km/h.

In 2004, a speed record for rail vehicles was even set in Austria on this section of line - the ICE S travelled at a remarkable 305 km/h on line kilometre 91.
