Last Sunday, 18 June, was Father's Day in the United States and, as expected, many celebrities took advantage of the occasion to share snapshots of their celebrations.
One of the most viral controversies of the last few days was that of Michael Douglas, married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, and a photo with his children, with whom he enjoyed a hearty breakfast.
"Happy Father's Day to all! Peace and Love," was the 78-year-old's message.
The text was accompanied by a photograph of the 'Basic Instinct' star with his children seated around a huge table full of all kinds of food ranging from fruit, pancakes, sweets, sauces, juices right through to cakes.
Criticism of Michael Douglas' most viral image
A picture that, far from being applauded, provoked enormous discomfort among his followers, who did not hesitate to question the need to put so much food on the table.
"With so much hunger and climate change, I hope nothing goes to waste here," said one user, annoyed by the situation.
"What the f*** is on that table, half the world is starving," another user declared.
In addition, others did not overlook the type of food Michael Douglas was about to eat, in a clear reference to how different breakfast is in the United States compared to other countries such as France or Spain.
"What food is on the table? Americans eat very strangely," was one comment.
In spite of everything, there were those who did not hesitate to congratulate the actor for the special moment he is going through with his wife and children and the possibility of enjoying such a special day with his family.
"A feast for a king," wrote one young woman on Douglas' official Instagram account, where he has 1.2 million followers.
