Blake Hornstein

Blake Hornstein began his journalism career at Illinois State University covering local news and sports for the student TV and radio stations. In February 2022, he accepted a job at Local 4 WHBF as a multimedia journalist, where he reported on the local news. In June, he fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a sportscaster when he joined the sports team. He anchored weekend sportscasts and covered high school teams in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.

In August, Blake made another transition, becoming Local 4’s Hawkeye Headquarters reporter and the only journalist in the Quad Cities dedicated to covering the Hawkeyes. You can catch Blake on the air or on the web covering Iowa football and basketball.

As for Blake’s favorite sports teams, it’s an odd palette to say the least. Growing up watching the Chicago White Sox with his dad, he naturally gravitated towards the south siders. In an attempt to impress his third grade teacher, Blake turned on his Chicago roots and became a Green Bay Packers fan. As for basketball, an affinity for the late 2000s Celtics teams added Boston to the mix.

When Blake isn’t watching or reporting on sports you can find him at the gym (if you’re awake at 6 a.m.), golfing or talking about his Aaron Rodgers jersey collection.
