I'm not sure if I should custom build a 08 Specialized SX trail frame with the following compontents or a 08 SX trail 1 complete. I can custom build for about $3500, or buy the complete for $3100. Do you think it's worth it to custom build on this budget, or buy the complete.

-07 Fox 36 Van R
-DHX 5.0
-Azonic Outlaw wheels
-06 Avid Juicy 5's
-FSA DH Pro headset
-Race Face Diabolis Handle bar
-Easton Vice DH stem
-Maxxis high roller 26x2.35
-Sram X9 rear derailler
-Race Face evolve DH cranks
-E-13 Chain guide
-Azonic A-Frame pedals

definately custom build it uneless u can afford the sx trail 2. but if u can afford an sx 2 buy a demo 7 or demo 8 because they are stronger and have more travel

I'd definitely go with your custom set up, but if i may add one revision: instead of holy rollers i would recommend Maxxis Minion DH UST Tires. They're some of the best freeride/DH tires out there. : ]

dude, if i were you instead of getting the sx trail i would get the reign. it is lighter than that sx trail and has the exsact same amount of travel. It is also alot cheaper than the sx trail. i work at bicycle sports pasific and we are selling the reign 2008 for only 2699 and it comews with fox dhx 5.0 and fox van rc2. in my opinon the reign would be a better buy for you.

WITHOUT QUESTION, CUSTOM BUILD!!! I am waiting on my frame right now. Should be here in April but I have been sourcing parts for it. At the end of the project I might have $2200 bucks into it. One Caveat though... I bought my frame for $1100(Team pricing). under the assumption that you paid full pop $1550(shouldn't have to pay more than that)

$1550
575 (07 for 66rc of ebay
180 Enduro wheelset off ebay
250 Brakes Avid code 5 off ebay
250 drive train including shifters, chain, der
60 Tires on Specs website(enduro's on sale + tubes)
50 Stem handlebars and grips
50 Truvatibe box guide

Ok, I lied its about 3 g's. Point being you are building a hell of a nice bike with the parts you want/can afford and you get to customize for less than they you can buy it from a shop. You can make it cheaper if you want to cut corners and buy used stuff.

u can get an sx trail 1 for that! and its got sicker components minus brakes. which is an easy upgrade as well as fork if u want a 66 which is hte same price as a 55
