Örsjö: Handmade Lighting from Sweden

Founded in 1948 in Småland, in southern Sweden, Örsjö initially made metal components and falu röda, the red paint synonymous with Scandinavian country houses and barns. In the early fifties, the company started producing lighting that attracted Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad: for years, Örsjö kept Ikea’s lamp departments stocked. In recent decades, Örsjö has focused on producing well-crafted lighting by celebrated Swedish designers past and present. Take a look.

The long-stemmed Ginko pendant is a 2009 design by Norway Says that was inspired by gingko leaves.

The Plissé White Edition is composed of a pleated translucent textile.

The Punkt light, according to Örsjö, “owes its visual language to postwar French pendant lamps."

The PJ60 desk lamp is available with a base or clamp in five colors.

The Tratten (translation: Funnel) is a 1960s outdoor lighting classic by Hans-Agne Jakobsson reissued by Örsjö.

Modeled after the chamber sticks of yore, Pierre Sindre’s portable, rechargeable Visir LED light is perfect for summer entertaining.
