Around Bad Hofgastein, the peaks rise to over the 2,400 metre mark. The mighty Gamskarkogel in the east beckons with the Gamskarkogelhütte, among other things. The Schlossalm area in the west is no less charming. Those who enjoy leisurely hikes can use the Gastein mountain lifts for a comfortable entry into the hiking paradise of Gastein. No matter whether you love the challenge of an alpine hike, prefer leisurely mountain hiking or want to stroll along a picturesque circular trail: from Bad Hofgastein all options are open. Even ambitious mountain runners and trail runners will find well-signposted routes here on the trails of the trail running event adidas Infinite Trails. At the Schlossalm family mountain, the motto is “Discover yourself in rock and stone” – here you will find an outdoor playground, a slackline park, via ferratas for every level and a large selection of circular hiking trails for the whole family.

Excursion tips
In September and October, the culinary farm hike takes place in Bad Hofgastein. During the enjoyment hike to various farms, you will learn everything about the life of local farmers and the world of medicinal herbs. Seminar farmer Heidi Huber from the Mühlhof in Bad Hofgastein accompanies the hikers to the various pleasure stations.
The forest is a place of tranquillity: Between the quiet giants of the forest, the perfect seat for a culinary adventure is already reserved – at the Wald:Brunch in Bad Hofgastein. An easy hike into the Angertal valley leads participants together with Stefan Wildling from the Bad Hofgastein spa and tourism association through the invigorating natural landscape, past crystal-clear mountain streams and into the naturally healing forest. The table is set in a clearing and the chef is already at work, as seven courses are served here in the middle of the forest.

Classic:Summer
Music enjoyment in the valley and on the alpine pastures – that is the Klassik:Sommer in the Gastein Valley! The Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of conductor Elisabeth Fuchs presents music to dream, dance and rave about in June and July – in the Kursaal in Bad Hofgastein. The programme of the Classical:Summer 2021 will once again be colourful and full of joie de vivre.
Winter in Bad Hofgastein
Skiing deluxe awaits all winter sports enthusiasts in Bad Hofgastein. Schlossalm – Angertal – Stubnerkogel is one of four ski areas in the Gastein Valley and lies between 860 and 2,300 m above sea level. In addition to the family-friendly ski area, the Schlossalmbahn stands for action and numerous kilometres of slopes of all levels of difficulty. Children will also find a snow park and a fun slope here. Away from the slopes, you can take a walk on well-cleared winter hiking trails, go on snowshoe tours and ski tours or embark on a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride.
