Ski Areas in Alpbach

Alpbach ski resort is nestled in the Alpbachtal valley and offers 145km of piste for all abilities across the Ski Juwel area, linking Alpbach and Niederau. Alpbach offers all the traditional off-snow activities, so skiing isn’t the only attraction. There are lots of traditional eateries on the mountain and après-ski is subdued making it a great for families.

The skiing in Alpbach is great for intermediates and beginners, making Alpbach ski resort an ideal family ski area. Ski school and childcare are of a high standard. There are 45km of pistes and you can invest in the ‘Kitzbueheler Alpen’ Pass for greater variety (700km of pistes). You might want to give cross-country a try, as there are plenty of trails to cover. Alpbach ski resort also features as a regular host for international events. Queues aren’t a problem, so you can enjoy the real Tyrolean experience without the waiting.

Alpbach is a cool and friendly ski resort for snowboarders; a postcard resort with three sides of the mountain to explore. With the highest runs having wide plains of powder, off-piste between the slopes is aplenty. It is also perfect for those learning to snowboard with a few tracks that require skating, making moving around easy as can be. Alpbach is without a terrain park, but it is a great beginner to intermediate resort for snowboarders.

Hornboden has open log fires and a great atmosphere, located near the top of the Wiedersberhornbahn. You can find Boglalm restaurant below the Poglalm mid station and tuck into some of its famous dumpling soup or Tiroler Grosti. Dauerstoa Alm is situated next to the main gondola and serves good coffee and a sweet apple strudel. Jo Margreiters Hotel Post offers excellent Austrian cuisine and an impressive wine list. Gasthof Wiedersbergerhorn has generous portions and friendly service.

The Gondelalm at Inneralpbach is your first stop as skiing ends. Treat yourself to a cold glass of Austrian beer after a hard day on the slopes. Josef Margreiter’s Hotel Post is not only a restaurant, it often has live music in the evenings. The Waschkuchl, found in the centre of Alpbach, doesn’t open until 9pm and just gets livelier as the night goes on.

There is a great range of activities for non-skiers in Alpbach. The Alpbachtal and Seenland is the perfect place to hike all year round, with approximately 24 trails around the resort, spanning 120km. Paraglide down from the Wiedersberger Horn, for a duration of up to 20 minutes. There are a handful of hotels who offer massages, physio and other treatments around the resort. Alpbach ski resort also offers three different courses, a 4km, 5km and a more challenging 6km run.
