Southeast of Salzburg and west of Liezen, the Die Tauplitz ski area has 25 pistes totaling 43km that are served by 6 lifts accessing a maximum descent of 1000m. The pistes are located mainly above the treeline and are spread across 3 mountains. The best snowboarding at Die Tauplitz ski area is typically between the months of January and February.

While most of the terrain is beginner and intermediate, there is one challenging marked ski route (#23b) off Lawinkenstein. In addition, there is plenty of unmarked freeriding to be found off all three summits with plenty of deep powder.

After a long morning of shredding, make sure to grab lunch up on the mountain. There are two great options including Berggasthof Hollhaus and Schoni Alm.

To reach the Die Tauplitz ski area, take the public transport to Bad Mitterndorf. From Bad Mitterndorf, there is a twice daily ski bus.

Overall, Tauplitz is the 67th most popular snowboard & freeride destination of all 92 snowboarding resorts in Austria.
