AC Milan's Kaka the latest superstar to snub Manchester City

Kaka, who was speculatively linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, has now been earmarked by City, the new Chelsea on the block.

But it seems the Brazilian playmaker is not interested in Eastlands. AC Milan's ambitious objectives, which match his own, and his good relations with the club hierarchy have persuaded the midfielder that his future remains in Italy.

"Before it was Real Madrid, now it's England that is in fashion," Kaka said of the latest transfer rumours. "The market is like that, just as Milan make offers, other clubs make offers to Milan.

"I will never ask to leave. I will only leave if Milan decide to sell me or perhaps the day when we no longer have the same objectives. That day has not come.

He explained: "I have always been treated well by club executives and my rapport with them is excellent.

"Perhaps one day they may change their approach with respect to me but I don't see that happening.

"Milan has done a good job in the transfer market, the club still wants to win and be competitive and those are my aims."

Such sentiments will be hard hearing for Abu Dhabi United Group, who helped close the summer transfer window with promises of record-breaking activity next time around.

But they have already been informed that their intention to bring in up to 18 new, world-class players is that of "fantasy" by a potential target, Juventus goalkeeper Buffon.

Cristiano Ronaldo is another anticipated transfer request-in-waiting, which has also been laughed off. David Gill, the Manchester United chief executive, claims that he is taking rumours of a £135 million offer "with a pinch of salt".

Sheikh Mansour bin Zahed Al Nahyan, a senior member of the Abu Dhabi royal family and power behind the City's new owners, will hope that such skepticism can be silenced by a high profile signing such as Kaka. Buying the current Fifa World Player of the Year, under contract at the San Siro until 2013, looks like a long shot, however.
