Kaka: Manchester City have no idea

Kaka has hit back at Manchester City in the war of words that is developing between the world's richest club and AC Milan, claiming it took him less then 30 seconds to reject a move to Eastlands.

City had thought they had clinched a world record £108 million deal for the Brazilian, following negotiations between the two clubs and Kaka's father Bosco Leite.

However, City's hopes of signing the 26-year-old were dashed when reports emerged that Kaka had rejected the proposal and wanted to remain in Milan.

This provoked an angry response from City, with executive chairman Garry Cook calling Kaka and Milan "greedy" and "bottlers".

Cook said: "This [deal] broke down for all the wrong reasons. I think it was a bit too sophisticated for Milan, They bottled it."

And when asked if Kaka's side had been too greedy, he added: "I felt that was the case. With them it was just all about money."

Kaka, though, has responded to City's claims, stating that turning down a move to Eastlands was the best decision he could have made.

He said: "Not even for 30 seconds did I think about going to Manchester City. Milan is my home."

Italians are viewing Kaka's snub of City as a victory for Milan, and for Serie A over the Premier League.

QPR owner Flavio Briatore, who has a foot in both camps, believes it was the right decision, and said: "Put [Michael] Schumahcer in a Minardi, he won't go anywhere.

"Even with Kaka, Manchester City wouldn't have gone anywhere. They were completely mad."

Italian media are even reporting that Kaka told his Milan team-mates at training that City were clueless.

Kaka is quoted as saying: "There was a total confusion. Not one of them had a clear idea of what was going on. I have taken a weight off my mind."
