Are Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell married?

Although Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are not married, they have been together for over four decades.

On February 14, 1983, it was announced Goldie and Kurt started dating during the filming of their 1984 movie Swing Shift.

While the longtime couple have made their devotion to their relationship clear, they've also stood firm on their decision to not marry.

The Hollywood star had recently opened up about why she never made the big move with Kurt.

In an interview with CNN she voiced her concerns about marriage.

"When it doesn't work out, it ends up being big business," Goldie said.

The Oscar winner said: "It's always ugly. Somebody actually has to take a look and say, 'How many divorces actually are fun?'

"'How many divorces actually don't cost money? How many divorces actually make you hate the person more than you did before?'

"'How many divorces have hurt children?' I mean relationships are hard. They're not always easy.

"There's all kinds of hurdles we go through. There's things that we believe in, things we don't believe in, we agree on."

She added: "So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important, so you can hold on to yourself, and you can actually have that feeling.

"I like the idea that I can wake up in the morning and make decisions every day if I want to be here.

"Why should we be? Isn't that a better question?"

Goldie's comments echo similar sentiments she previously shared about marriage.

"It’s not about the marriage," the Christmas Chronicles actress confessed to People.

"It’s about the people, and the relationship, and the will to stay together. And that’s a big one because if you want it, you can have it.

"You’ve got to give things up but the joy, and the excitement of being together, and touching the toes of somebody at night is really a nice feeling.

"You’ve just got to want to be together. I don’t think there’s any way other than to do it."

How did Goldie and Kurt meet?

In 1966, Goldie and Kurt first crossed paths during the production of the former's cinematic debut The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.

The two co-stars didn't date until they reconnected in 1983 to film the romantic drama Swing Shift.

"I was 21, and he was 16, and I thought he was adorable but he was much too young," she recalled.

"And then years later we met up again and I liked him and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him.

"But we both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell."

While remembering their first date and how they were busted by the police, Kurt recounted to Conan O'Brien: "We had already met twice.

"By the time we got together, and got together, it was in 1983 for Swing Shift.

"I didn't know Goldie at all outside of having worked with her many years before.

"I just didn't know in my mind what I was going to see. She had a great body, and so the first that came out was 'Man, you got a great figure.'

"And it kind of came out quickly and it could've been wrong and she said, 'Why thank you.'"

The Fast and Furious star went on to explain: "We eventually found our way upstairs, looking around at imaginary furniture, and we were in the imaginary bedroom, now, and we are realistically having sex.
"The police walked in because we had to break into the place to get in.

"That was our first date. It was a lot of fun, I'll tell you what. I can't believe it was a long time ago."
