Who is Evangeline Lilly?

Born August 3, 1979, Nicole Evangeline Lilly is an actress and author from Alberta, Canada.

The 42-year-old's strong interest in humanitarian causes drove her to major in International Relations at the University of British Columbia.

Her career in acting began by chance when she was discovered by A Ford Modelling Agency agent while walking the streets of Kelowna.

Evangeline is also an accomplished author and her debut children's book The Squickerwonkers was released in 2013 and contains a foreword from Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson.

Did Evangeline Lilly attend an anti-vaccine mandate rally?

In January 2022, Lilly made headlines after it was revealed that she had attended a protest in Washington D.C. in support of “medical sovereignty,” and to protest vaccine mandates.

At that same protest, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. compared vaccine mandates to the Holocaust, which killed 6 million Jewish people between 1941 and 1945.

"I was in DC this weekend to support bodily sovereignty while Canadian truckers were rallying for their cross-country, peaceful convoy in support of the same thing," Lilly wrote in an Instagram post.

"I believe nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything against their will, under threat of: violent attack, arrest or detention without trial, loss of employment, homelessness, starvation, loss of education, alienation from loved ones, excommunication from society...under any threat whatsoever.

"This is not the way," she continued. "This is not safe. This is not healthy. This is not love. I understand the world is in fear, but I don't believe that answering fear with force will fix our problems.

"I was pro choice before COVID and I am still pro choice today."

Her post garnished mixed feelings from fans, with some supporting her beliefs and others upset.

What has she been in?

Evangeline's break-out role came in 2004 when she landed the lead role of Kate Austen in Lost. For her performance, Evangeline was nominated for a Golden Globe.

She appeared as Connie James in 2008's Academy-Award-winning film The Hurt Locker and followed this up with a lead role in Real Steel with Hugh Jackman.

In 2012, Evangeline was cast as the original character, Mirkwood elf Tauriel, in Peter Jackson's three-part adaption of The Hobbit.

She joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Wasp in 2015's Ant-Man, a role in which she's reprised for the sequel that became Marvel's first movie to feature a female hero in the title.
