Paris Hilton Pays Homage to Karl Lagerfeld in a Slick Black Dress For Her Met Gala Debut

Paris Hilton, the American heiress, has arrived on the Met Gala red carpet. Going along the theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," Hilton pays homage to the late designer by donning a rendition of Karl's signature outfit by Marc Jacobs.

Lagerfeld's uniform went as follows: Black blazer atop a black vest, tie, sunglasses, leather driving gloves, and a signature ponytail. Hilton's look for the evening has taken these elements and made them her own. The velvet, glittering top with extended sleeves and camellia choker nod to Lagerfeld's legacy at Chanel and match with her platform pumps. The material of the dress shifts into leather for the skirt, which mimic those of Lagerfeld's hand accessories. She, of course, has chosen to wore her hair in a slick ponytail like the late designer. On the beauty side, Hilton opted in for a dramatic smoky black eye shadow which is the star's go-to makeup look (and is very early 2000s). For jewelry, Hilton wore diamond studs that further illuminate the sparkling details of her garments.

Despite having a longtime pop-culture presence, this is Hilton's first ever Met Gala. Just last night, Hilton waxed poetic about Lagerfeld on her personal Instagram page by posting a series of photographs of the two together; Hilton wearing a muted eggshell pink gown with a ribbonned-waist, Lagerfeld in his signature uniform of driving gloves, black jacket, sunglasses, and a ponytail. "Karl has always been a fashion inspiration to me," she writes. "Such an icon and innovator. Love that he is the theme of this years gala."
