Rotenturm Castle
The castle, built in a style reminiscent of the Romanesque and the Orient, is surrounded by an 11-hectare English landscape park.
After the years of its construction, the castle had housed the valuable collections of the Count Julius and Emilie Erdődy, who were great art lovers. Unfortunately, in 1924, a fire destroyed most of the interior furnishings, including the Erdődy family archives and the secret archives of the Hungarian hero, Prince Franz II Rákóczi (1676-1735), the leader of a Kuruc uprising against the Habsburgs from 1703-1711. The remaining collections were auctioned off in 1929.
After having been successively in the hands of Czech violin virtuoso Jan Kubelík and the Federal State of Burgenland, the castle is since 2008 in private hands again, and can receive in seven festive rooms and the in-house chapel, up to 130 guests. In particular suitable for weddings, the castle has four guest apartments and a new bridal suite, in the castle tower. In addition, Rotenturm Castle has its own certified wedding planner.
