TREKKING TO CALA GOLORITZE’
Starting point: Location “Su Porteddu” on the Golgo Plateau.
Description: from Baunei you can easily reach the Golgo Plateau. Coming from the south, turn right immediately after the Church of San Nicola (signs for “Golgo”) and after a series of uphill hairpin bends reach the plateau. After about 8 km, leave the concrete road to take a dirt track on the right (signs for “Cala Goloritzé”); the “Su Porteddu” car park and refreshment point is about 1.5 km further on.
Leaving the car in the guarded car park, take the indicated path, initially uphill, to an altitude of 470 metres above sea level.
You continue along the mule track to enter the Bacu Goloritzé, the avalanche chute leading to the homonymous cove . The path continues without difficulty downhill among large holm oaks, ancient animal shelters and Mediterranean vegetation.
A few hundred metres from the beach, you pass to the left of a limestone pinnacle that has been the destination of many climbers (the first ascent was made by the Manolo-Gogna couple in January 1981). Access to the cove is eased by a series of wooden footbridges.
Important: access to the beach is limited to a restricted number of people (max. 250 per day). In order to guarantee your access to the beach, you must book it through the Heart of Sardinia app, downloadable on your smartphone, both IOS and Android, from 72 hours until one minute before your arrival.
Upon booking, you will be asked to pay an environmental fee of 6 euros (with reductions for children) via PayPal, credit card or prepaid card.
The beach can only be reached on foot, and the departure point is from Su Porteddu, on the Golgo Plateau, about 9 km from Baunei.
You can leave your car in the guarded car park located right at the trailhead and show the QR Code- generated by the booking platform- to the staff of the Info Point on site.
This is a hike that is also suitable for less experienced hikers, with a well-marked path: 3.6 km with an altitude difference of 513. It will take you about an hour and a half to reach the shore, but in the meantime, you can enjoy the trail and recharge your batteries with the clean Supramonte air and the scents of the surrounding nature.
Bring plenty of water and something to eat with you!
There are no refreshments or services on the beach.
Entry is permitted from 7.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
