His face was seen all over the walls of Paris as summer drew to a close. His eyes blue as lakes, a slender, straight nose, golden brown hair cut in a shoulder-length bob, and a disconcertingly androgynous look that is very much in vogue. Oliver Sonne, just seventeen, is astonishingly photogenic and already has the makings of a cover-boy. Vogue Hommes made no mistake in offering him his first cover, photographed by Inez & Vinoodh. "I have wonderful memories of the Parisian posters you mentioned," he says. "They were for the Loewe campaign shot by Steven Meisel. It was a great honor for me to work with such a genius. Before that, on Christmas day 2016, Cesar Perin of the Unsigned Group agency first noticed the young man during a family birthday celebration in Copenhagen. The chance encounter turned his life upside down, a life spent at school in Denmark, doing his homework, in the warmth of the family nest, on adventures with his friends set to A$AP Rocky, and football, which he practices regularly. Oliver just happens to be the nephew of Helena Christensen, the exquisite emerald green-eyed Danish beauty, who became legendary as one of the original super models (alongside Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour and Christy Turlington). Herb Ritts turned her into an icon when he shot the black-and-white Chris Isaak video Wicked Games, in which she oozes sensuality in the crooner's arms, her amber skin covered in sand. Her six-foot nephew has great admiration and respect for his aunt's career. "She's incredible, and so inspiring." How does he see himself in ten years' time? For the moment, he says he's "open-minded, ambitious, and determined." But, "I would like to be successful in this profession, get to the top, and be proud of myself. I would also, ultimately, like to buy a house in the mountains in Spain or Italy, so that I could spend time with my wife and children." And who would be the lucky woman? We won't get an answer to that question, although Oliver does confess that he would love to invite Irina Shayk to dinner. A word to the wise!
