Some Amish people who had secret cell phones are being shunned after last week’s National Emergency Alert System test.

The national test interrupted meetings, lunches and even startled some people when it happened. However, since it happened to everybody, it wasn’t a big deal for the most part.

According to a former Amish man on TikTok, the National EAS Test outed some members of the Amish community that had secret cell phones. Even though the phones were on vibrate or had the sound off, the National Test overrode those settings and created a loud sound that anybody around could hear.

For some Amish community having a cell phone is a minor offense. However, in more strict Amish communities being “shunned” is significant and the person could find themselves separated from their community for an extended period of time.
