I just learned of Barrie's passing and would like to offer my sincere condolences to his family. We played football against one another for the four years of high school. He was from Central and I from North and we met many years after high school while our sons were wrestling and renewed our friendship. He always had a smile and was a great fan and supporter of Hunterdon Central sports. A gentleman in victory and defeat with a kind word for everyone. Rest in Peace Barrie.

STEPHEN C BARRICK left a message on April 24, 2022:
I grew up with Barrie from kindergarden through high school. He was always among the best in childhood competitions including neighborhood bicycle races, model car races in my parents' attic, and in the grade school playground softball games we had during recess. He was the HCHS Class Of 1969 Class Clown for good reason: He was gifted with a sense of humor that had just the right edge. At the Flemington-Raritan Community Pool one summer, he told me that when my mother got into the water, the lifeguards should post a small craft advisory warning. Most know, I'm sure, that Barrie lost his left eye as a young child and wore a prosthetic eye for the rest of his life. In Mrs. Gebhardt's first grade class, he removed it one time and left it on the poor teacher's desk. He could get away with that kind of stuff, he was one of a kind. I hadn't seen Barrie in a couple of years, mainly because I didn't go to Shop Rite all that often. He called me last October about going with me to a car race that I was covering, The race rained out and I never got back to him to set up a rain date. I certainly wish now that I had.

Carol, Your wonderful husband will be greatly missed by all who knew him! We will cherish the family events we all spent together with all the Grandchildren! Our heartfelt sympathy from our family to the entire Eberstein Family. We had the pleasure of knowing Barrie for the past 18 years, before our children got married. We have always known him to be a fun loving person to be around, and were so shocked to hear of Barrie's passing. He was a genuinely kind and caring man! Barrie loved his Family and enjoyed every moment with his Children and especially the Grandchildren. They kept him laughing and smiling. I believe Barrie will be watching over those precious Grandchildren as they grow up, and he will live in their hearts forever. Carol, Dan, Kristin, Mark and all the Grandchildren~ We are sorry for your loss. May the memories bring you peace and comfort during this very difficult time. We loved Barrie! With love and friendship, we share in your sorrow. May he rest in peace. ~ Ruth & Ed Polguy

Very saddened to hear of Barrie's passing. He and I still managed to run into each other over the years from time to time; usually the library. I always enjoyed spending a few moments talking with him and reminiscing about our days at Central.
Birdie Miller left a message on April 18, 2022:
I met Barrie in '67. Throughout HS we did some wild and crazy things together, having a blast and laughing all the way. I think we set a record, by taking a school bus for a 'joy ride'. The school made us pay a price for that! When our sons wrestled for HSHS we met up again for many fun times over many years. He was the same old Barrie at our many class of '69 reunions. Family and friends live on in our memories. Take Care Carol.

Wishing Barry’s family peace as you say goodbye to a wonderful man. We were friends in the 1960’s and I enjoyed his humor, grit, and fearless pursuit of fun. We saw each other rarely after high school, but each occasion was very special as we shared memories and caught up on our lives and families. Farewell my friend. Bernie

I knew Barry from Health Quest only the past several years. We talked often about the sport of wrestling. He was always kind and very engaging. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and spoke of them often as he was heading off to an event with all of them. I was lucky to have those conversations. My deepest sympathies to his family during this difficult period.
